How we work
The government kept the files. Then it let them go.
Unsealed Directive tells the stories inside declassified records. Each directive is one file, read in full, with the original pages on screen.
Where the material comes from
Our documents come from public archives: the National Archives, the CIA's reading room, the FBI Vault, the Department of Energy's OpenNet, and agency releases under the Freedom of Information Act. Our footage comes from government film units whose work belongs to the public.
How we check it
Every number and claim in a directive is matched to a source before the narration is recorded. Each directive page lists those sources with links, so you can read the same pages we did.
What we don't do
We don't invent dialogue, stage reenactments or fill gaps with guesses. When the record is blank, we say so. Blacked-out lines stay blacked out.
